VIETNAM TRAVELING MEMORIAL WALL COMING TO OAK ISLAND JULY 2-6
The wall (a 244-foot replica of the monument in Washington, DC) tours the country honoring Americans who served in Vietnam, and lists the names of the more than 58,000 who died - 1,609 of which were from North Carolina.
This touching memorial will be located in the fields behind Middleton Park on Oak Island and will be open to the public around-the-clock from the afternoon of July 2nd through noon on July 6th. There will be an opening ceremony each day, as well as a microphone available for any veterans who wish to speak.
Visiting the wall is an emotional and spiritual experience. Many visitors leave mementos - flowers, photos, cards or letters - paying tribute to our fallen during this poignant time in our country's history.
Volunteers are needed to help set up and disassemble the wall; other helpers are needed to assist visitors and provide security. To help or to learn more, visit www.thewarriorride.org or contact Bob Racine @ 910.616.6977 or Gary Anderson @ 910.278.7344.
