NORTH CAROLINA 4TH OF JULY FESTIVAL ACTIVITIES START SOON!!
Celebrating the 4th of July is not something new to Southport, North Carolina.
The celebration started way back in 1792, when it was observed as the "Festival of Freeman". In 1972, the commemoration officially became THE NORTH CAROLINA 4TH OF JULY FESTIVAL.
This year's celebration begins on Saturday, June 27th, with the Opening Ceremonies, the Freedom Run, and the Firefighters' Competition. You will then want to hear the reading of the Declaration of Independence and the Military Band Concert on Sunday, June 28th.
Oak Island Beach Days begin on Wednesday, July 1st with Sand Sculpture, Skate, and Shag contests, a concert, and fireworks over the Atlantic Ocean!
Stop back for more important information - like where the food booths are and more importantly, where the most easily accessible bathrooms are located.
